DTN COMMENTS:  Still just a few bids on the table this afternoon that 
continue to be passed. It is looking like the bulk of business has been 
essentially completed. This week Northern dressed deals have sported a 
full range of $400 to $415, it is looking like it was mostly $410 to 
$415, $7 to $12 higher than last week's weighted averages basis Nebraska. 
Southern live deals have had a range of $260 to $265, mostly $260 to 
$262, $3 to $5 higher than the prior week's weighted averages. With such 
wide ranges it is hard to tell just where the weekly weighted averages 
will fall. 

Today's slaughter totaled 100,000 head, 8,000 more than last week, but 
4,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 9,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 535,000 head, 8,000 greater than the 
previous week, but 31,000 below 2025. Both live (up 55 to 205) and feeder 
(110 to 470 higher) cattle futures closed sharply higher this afternoon. 
Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with light to moderate box 
movement.
